FiveM Server Security Checklist 2026: The Complete Setup Guide
Starting a new FiveM server is exciting. You've got your custom scripts, your map is looking beautiful, your Discord is buzzing with anticipation. But before you open those doors to the public, there's one thing that will make or break your entire project: security.
We've seen hundreds of servers launch without proper security and crumble within weeks. Don't be one of them. This is the exact security checklist we recommend to every server owner who joins the Fiveuxe network.

Step 1: Install a Professional Anticheat
This isn't optional in 2026. The FiveM cheating scene has evolved far beyond what manual moderation can handle. You need automated, always-on protection that works while you sleep.
We obviously recommend Fiveuxe, but regardless of what you choose, make sure your anticheat provides at minimum:
- ✓ Server-side detection — Not just client-side scanning that cheaters can disable
- ✓ HWID banning — IP bans are worthless in 2026
- ✓ Zero performance impact — Your players will leave if the anticheat causes lag
- ✓ Regular updates — The cheat scene evolves weekly; your protection should too
With Fiveuxe, installation takes literally 60 seconds — drag the resource folder into your server, enter your license key in the dashboard, and you're protected. No configuration, no conflicts, no FPS drops.
Step 2: Lock Down Your server.cfg
Your server.cfg is the master key to your entire server. Treat it like a nuclear launch code:
Step 3: Validate Every Server Event
This is where most servers get compromised. Every TriggerServerEvent call is a potential attack vector. Cheaters with mod menus can trigger any server event with any arguments they want.
Golden rule: Never trust the client. Every server event handler should validate:
- → Is this event supposed to come from this player?
- → Are the arguments within realistic ranges?
- → Has this player sent this event too many times in too short a period?
- → Does this action make sense given the player's current state?
Fiveuxe handles this automatically — our Real-Time Trigger Protection monitors all server events and flags impossible actions before they execute.
Step 4: Set Up HWID Banning
Read our complete HWID banning guide for the technical deep-dive. The short version: IP bans are trivially bypassed with free VPNs. HWID bans tie the punishment to the physical hardware, making ban evasion require buying a new computer.
Step 5: Enable Connection Screening
Why let a known cheater even connect to your server? Connection-time screening checks every incoming player against ban databases before they load a single asset.
With Fiveuxe's Global Hive-Mind Network, your server automatically checks against a network of 100+ servers. If a player was banned for cheating on any Fiveuxe-protected server, they're rejected from yours instantly.
Step 6: Test Before You Go Live
Before opening your server to the public, do a private security audit:
- 1. Have a trusted friend attempt to use known exploits
- 2. Verify that your anticheat catches and logs the attempts
- 3. Test that banned players can't reconnect
- 4. Confirm that logging captures all relevant data for appeal reviews
- 5. Monitor server performance under load with the anticheat running
