FiveM Vehicle Fly and Rocket Hack Detection

June 17, 2026· 10 min read· By Fiveuxe Research Team

Vehicle fly and rocket hacks are among the most disruptive cheats on any FiveM server. A single player launching their car into orbit mid-pursuit, or floating over a base while griefing, destroys the experience for everyone nearby. The bad news: these cheats are trivially easy to write. The good news: the physics data that makes them work is also the data that exposes them, if your anticheat is reading it correctly.

What Rocket and Flying-Car Cheats Actually Do

GTA V's rage engine exposes a rich set of native functions that any Lua or C++ cheat menu can call. The two most common vehicle-flight primitives are SetEntityVelocity and ApplyForceToEntity. A rocket hack typically runs on a per-tick loop, calling one of these with a large upward or forward vector on the player's current vehicle. Because the client owns the authoritative position of its own entity in FiveM's default sync model, the server receives the resulting coordinates without question unless something is actively checking them.

A flying-car cheat is slightly different. Rather than a continuous impulse, it may use FreezeEntityPositioncombined with periodic teleports to simulate hovering or gliding. Some menu authors combine both approaches, using a force vector for altitude and freezing for lateral stability. The observable result in either case is the same from the server's perspective: a vehicle reporting coordinates and velocities that no legitimate engine state can produce.

Why Naive Position Checks Miss Most of These

Many server owners install a simple "speed limiter" resource that kicks players moving faster than a fixed threshold. These fail in practice for several reasons. First, the threshold has to be set high enough to allow jets, helicopters, and boosted drag-race vehicles, which means a rocket hack just needs to stay below that ceiling. Second, a cheat menu can ramp velocity gradually over multiple ticks, spreading the change so no single sample exceeds the limit. Third, position alone says nothing about whether a land vehicle is at a valid altitude given local terrain geometry.

Robust detection requires correlating multiple signals together: position delta between ticks, the vehicle's reported velocity vector, the vehicle's model class (is it supposed to be a land vehicle, a boat, an aircraft?), and the terrain height at that coordinate. This is the same multi-signal approach that separates good noclip detection from bad. For a deeper look at how that works for on-foot movement, see our noclip detection breakdown.

Physics-Validation: The Correct Detection Layer

The correct approach is to model what legitimate physics permits and flag deviations from it. For land vehicles this means:

  • 1.Altitude sanity relative to terrain. A car reporting Z-coordinates 30 metres above the road surface it was on two ticks ago has no legitimate explanation. Helicopters and planes are excluded by model class.
  • 2.Vertical velocity magnitude for ground vehicles. A Bravado Buffalo does not climb at 80 m/s. The permitted vertical delta between ticks, accounting for ramps and jumps, is bounded. Anything outside that band is flagged.
  • 3.Sustained airborne time. A legitimate vehicle jump lasts a fraction of a second. A flying cheat keeps the vehicle airborne indefinitely. Tracking consecutive airborne ticks surfaces this pattern without triggering on normal gameplay.
  • 4.Force-vector fingerprinting. ApplyForceToEntity leaves a signature in how the reported velocity vector changes between ticks. Legitimate engine forces follow drivetrain and gravity constraints. An injected force vector often has a distinct axis alignment that legitimate physics does not produce.
  • 5.Model class cross-check. If the vehicle model is categorised as a land vehicle or boat, sustained flight is definitionally anomalous. Filtering by model class prevents false positives on legitimately airborne vehicle types.

This kind of layered validation is how Fiveuxe's Movement & Combat detection module approaches the problem. It runs entirely server-side, reading sync data the client already has to send, so there is no kernel driver and no ring-0 access involved.

How Rocket Hacks Relate to Speed Hacks

Rocket and vehicle-fly cheats are often bundled in the same menu as speed hacks because they share the same underlying primitive: manipulating the entity's velocity vector. The difference is direction. A speed hack pushes the vector along the horizontal plane; a rocket hack pushes it upward. Detection logic for one therefore overlaps significantly with detection logic for the other. If your anticheat can validate horizontal velocity bounds, extending it to three-dimensional movement is the natural next step. For a full look at how speed hack detection works, read our speed hack detection guide.

The convergence matters operationally too. Cheat menus that offer both tend to be used by the same high-priority griefers. Catching a player on a speed violation frequently surfaces the same account that was about to enable rocket mode. Shared detection infrastructure means a wider net with no added overhead per module.

Avoiding False Positives in Edge Cases

Any physics-validation system has to account for legitimate outliers. GTA V has explosive barrels, scripted mission vehicles that launch into the air, and server resources that intentionally move vehicles via the same native calls a cheat would use. A naive implementation bans players on scripted rollercoaster rides or stunt events.

The standard mitigations are: a configurable per-model whitelist for vehicles that legitimately fly; an exemption API that server resources can call to temporarily suppress checks during scripted sequences; and a confidence threshold that requires multiple consecutive flagged ticks before an action is taken. Together these reduce the false-positive rate to near zero on well-configured servers without giving cheat menus a window to exploit the grace period.

It is also worth noting the relationship between vehicle physics exploits and explosion abuse. Some grenade and RPG mods use ApplyForceToEntity on nearby vehicles as a secondary effect, which can look like a rocket hack from the detector's perspective. Coordinating vehicle-movement checks with explosion-origin validation closes that gap. Our explosion protection article covers the explosion side of that pairing in detail.

What Happens After Detection

Detection is only half the equation. Once a vehicle-fly violation crosses the confidence threshold, Fiveuxe logs the event with a timestamped evidence snapshot including position history and velocity deltas. That record is surfaced in the web panel so you can review it before or after the ban action. A Discord webhook fires in real time so your moderation team is alerted immediately.

The ban itself triggers Shadow-Link identity enforcement: the cheater's HWID, Discord ID, IP address, and 12 additional identifiers are tied to the ban record. Creating a new account does not reset that record. The Hive-Mind network then propagates the ban to every other server in the network, approximately 100+ servers, in about 0.3 seconds. A rocket hacker who gets caught on a small roleplay server is blocked from joining every other Fiveuxe-protected server almost instantly.

Stop Vehicle Fly Cheats Before They Wreck Your Server

Fiveuxe's server-side physics validation catches rocket hacks, flying-car cheats, and speed exploits without a kernel driver or ring-0 component. Starts at $39/month, paid from the first day, with every physics check included at every tier.

FAQ

Can a server-side anticheat detect flying cars without a client driver?

Yes. Server-side detection works by validating the position and velocity data the client reports each tick against what GTA V physics allows. No kernel driver or ring-0 access is required.

What is a rocket hack in FiveM?

A rocket hack applies a continuous upward or directional force to a vehicle using native calls like SetEntityVelocity or ApplyForceToEntity, bypassing normal engine and gravity constraints so the car travels impossibly fast or floats.

How quickly does Fiveuxe ban a cheater using vehicle fly?

Detection fires within the same server tick. Once flagged and actioned, the Hive-Mind network propagates the ban to 100+ connected servers in about 0.3 seconds.
