FiveM Explosion Spam Protection & Filtering

June 17, 2026· 6 min read· By Fiveuxe Research Team

Few cheats clear a FiveM server faster than explosion spam. One injected client triggers the explosion event hundreds of times a second, and within moments every player on the map is dead, clients are stuttering or crashing, and your Discord fills with rage. The fix is not a louder ban hammer, it is a server-side explosion filter that decides which blasts are real before they ever reach another player.

How explosion spam griefing works

In GTA V's networking model, explosions are events one client broadcasts to everyone else. That design is fine for a grenade, but a cheat menu weaponizes it: it loops the explosion event with arbitrary coordinates, types, and damage, detonating players who are nowhere near the attacker and have no warning. There is no gun, no projectile, and no line of sight to break. At high rates the same flood also chews through client performance, so a single griefer can crash a full server or wipe an entire roleplay scene in seconds. Because the malicious packets look structurally like normal explosion events, a server with no filtering simply relays them to every connected player.

Why filtering has to be server-side

A common mistake is trying to stop explosions from the client. The problem is that the cheater controls the very client you are asking to police itself, so any local check is patched out by the same injector firing the blasts. Real protection lives on the server, where the cheater has no reach. A server-side filter sits in front of the explosion event and inspects each one before it propagates: who claims to own it, how fast that source is producing them, what explosion type it is, and how far the blast is from the player who supposedly caused it. Anything that no legitimate weapon or vehicle could create is dropped on the spot, and the offending source is flagged. This is the same principle behind effective spawn flood protection: validate the networked event server-side instead of trusting the client that sent it.

Telling legit explosions from abuse

The hard part is not blocking explosions, it is blocking the bad ones without nerfing real combat. A blanket cap on explosions punishes the player who genuinely fires an RPG into a firefight. Good filtering scores each event against what is physically plausible:

  • 1. Rate per source. A real player produces a handful of explosions over time. Hundreds per second from one identity is mechanically impossible and is dropped.
  • 2. Explosion type. Grenades, sticky bombs, RPGs, and vehicle blasts use known types. Forged or disallowed types that no in-game item produces are rejected.
  • 3. Proximity to source. A legitimate explosion happens near the player who caused it. A blast detonating across the map from its claimed owner is a teleported grief and gets filtered.
  • 4. Damage sanity. Explosions carrying impossible damage values, or paired with godmode on the attacker, point to injection rather than gameplay. Pair this with godmode detection for full coverage.

Legitimate grenades, RPGs, and crashing vehicles all fall inside those windows, so normal combat plays out untouched while forged or rapid-fire detonations never reach a victim.

How Fiveuxe filters explosions

Fiveuxe runs an explosion filter inside its Movement & Combat layer, the same set of detections that handle noclip, freecam, abnormal speed, the Damage Reducer Guard, and Anti-ESP. Every explosion event is evaluated server-side against rate, type, proximity, and damage limits before it propagates, so spam is dropped before a single client sees the blast. Because Fiveuxe is server-side with a sub-millisecond client agent, this filtering adds zero player FPS tax. When the filter confirms an explosion cheat, the source feeds the Hive-Mind global ban network, which propagates the ban across 100+ servers in about 0.3 seconds, and Shadow-Link HWID identity enforcement keeps that cheater out even after a fresh account or reinstall.

Stop explosion spam on your server

The explosion filter drops griefer blasts in real time on your own map. Licence Fiveuxe from $39/month, drop in the resource, and enforcement is live after one restart.

FAQ

Will an explosion filter block normal gameplay?

No, when it is tuned right. Legit grenades, RPGs, sticky bombs, and crashing vehicles fall inside known rate, type, and proximity limits. Fiveuxe scores explosions against those limits, so real combat passes while forged or rapid-fire blasts are dropped.

Why not just block explosions on the client?

Because the cheater controls that client and patches the check out. Filtering has to run server-side, where the attacker has no reach. Fiveuxe handles this in its Movement & Combat layer, which every paid plan includes.
